Saturday Catch-Up

My diet lately has consisted of my coworker’s leftover Halloween candy…

old Easter candy that we found in the back of our closet whilst packing (though most of that was tossed)…

gummy worms (that were bought for Daniel to take to study group…oops)…

and cupcakes.  That Chance tried to share with me.  But, I brought out my ninja skills.  They go into super speed when I’m protecting baked goods.

We’ve been packing up a storm, since the inspection is done, the BINSR has been agreed upon, the seller is working on fixing up some things for us, and we’re waiting on the final word on the appraisal.  If all goes according to plan, we’ll close on December 7th!

We’re trying to eat our way through our freezer, so we don’t have to move that stuff, which led to a meal of chicken nuggets, tater tots, and mozzarella bites the other night.  I seriously need to start running again.

I’m also trying to use as much as possible from our pantry, which led to an eggnog coffee cake the other day.

Thankfully, we took that pan to church, so we didn’t devour the whole thing (though Taco tried).

We tried a new French cafe recently and it was le yum.

Chipotle fajita burritos are always a win!  And what the heck is up with the cats trying to eat all of our food recently?!  Apparently my ninja skills haven’t been forceful enough.

I know I’m always posting my grievances about living in Tucson, but in keeping with the spirit of Thanksgiving, I found something to be thankful for.  Carne Asade Fries.  I want them all.  With a churro, please (I don’t know why I don’t weigh 1,000 pounds yet.  Must exercise soon.).

I also made 4 batches of Ham & Cheese Quinoa Bites – Daniel went nuts for those babies!

And then we visited a butcher shop that we ran across while running errands one day and I lost my appetite.  Permanently.  (Okay, sometimes I exaggerate.  It was about 5 minutes.)

But, I promise I’ve been doing more than just eating lately.  I’ve spent Sunday mornings snuggling babies in our church nursery…

gone shopping for granite (which we decided we didn’t want, after all)…

frozen while I watched early morning soccer games…

laughed at Taco, as he dove head-first into the tiny portion of a box that Daniel had sprinkled catnip in…

enjoyed colorful Tucson sunrises…

cuddled with Chance…

relished in the craziness that is Stevie-on-caffeine…

Baked a carrot cake for an early birthday celebration for my mom…

baked rolls for Thanksgiving…

went to our pastor’s house for the most delicious Thanksgiving meal ever – 2 turkey breasts, 9 smoked turkey legs, ham, 20 pounds of mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, carrots, roasted green beans, stuffing, rolls, marshmallow salad, pumpkin pie, apple pie, ice cream, and our favorite holiday drink, Christmas in a Cup (eggnog, Kahlua, and milk over crushed ice)…
picked my parents up from the airport (YAY!!)…

went shopping at World Market with my mom, where they fed us advent calendar chocolates…

got a bunch of awesome Amish cooking stuff to try from my parents’ trip to Lancaster…

and, finally, trapped Taco under a trash can.

We lead busy lives here. ;-)

Happy post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas season to you all!  I hope you had fabulous, family and friend-filled days and massive amounts of delicious food!
