Introducing…
We were actually planning on visiting 4 pups before we made our decision, but Boots chose us! When we got out of our car at the foster home, all of the dogs were chasing and playing, but Boots stepped away from the crowd and pranced right up to Daniel. We didn’t know which dog Boots was at the time, but the foster mom leaned in and said to me, “That dog that just ran right up to your husband? That’s Boots!”
It was pretty much decided right then and there!
Boots is one year old and is the most mellow puppy I’ve ever met! He loves going for runs with me (though not at 5am in complete darkness!), he enjoys walks, and he’s just starting to appreciate the joy of fetching.
He is such a people dog. He wants to be friends with every person and dog we meet! He is not a fan of his crate quite yet. His foster mom had started crate training him, so he does okay with it, but he hates being away from us! He also has the occasional accident in the house, but he’s learning quickly on that front, too.
We bought him a bunch of different toys and bones, which he’ll pick up and chew on every once and a while, but really, he’d much rather nap or cuddle with us.
He hasn’t had much obedience training yet (we start our first class on Saturday!), but he is very well mannered! He doesn’t jump on the couch or bed unless invited, he takes treats ever-so-gently from our fingers, and always releases toys immediately if we try to grab them.
He already knew the command “sit” when we got him, but he’s already added “shake”, “wait”, and “down” to his trick repertoire. We’re working on “kennel”, but…well, he’s not too motivated to follow through on that one!
We love this sweet boy to bits already! I’m always itching to come home to him everyday after work. He’s been getting us out of the house, more active, and even more social. He fits into our family perfectly and we’re loving every second we spend with him!
