Monday Catch-Up

This week, I…decorated our office for my coworker’s birthday, baked said coworker birthday muffins (one of my favorite recipes – Healthier Morning Glory Muffins from Can You Stay for Dinner), received a sweet treat in my work mailbox from the PTO, played fetch, discovered the joy of having neighbors in the form of TONS of free fruit, decorated birthday envelopes, froze to bits (as did our pipes) in 18 degree weather, inhaled the fantastic scents of Toffee Crunch and French Baguette, made goody bags for Daniel’s family birthday party, savored every second I could spend with Boots, was shocked when I awoke to a layer of ice on our pool, fell in love with sugar cookie creamer, went running, spent more time with our pup, laughed when he found his new favorite place perched on the top of our couch by the front window, and awwwed when my two boys took a nap on the couch together.

Then I….

got my booty kicked by Jillian for the first time in ages, went on another run, found out what Daniel really does at school all day, had mixed feelings about Daniel teaching the dog to “speak” (not always on command), squeezed a ton of lemons to make fresh strawberry lemonade, found a pepper growing inside of a pepper (inception, anyone), took Boots to his first grooming appointment, fell in love all over again with our vanilla-scented puppy, got Boots excited about Daniel’s birthday party, giggled at our friends’ sweet son as he pet Boots, enjoyed strawberry cake with brownie whipped cream frosting with good friends, busted out mason jars and paper straws for the first time ever (love them!), saw a man riding his motorcycle with his dog riding behind him in a cooler (with his own sun-goggles), devoured my make-your-own pizza from Daniel’s family party (roasted garlic and caramelized onions…heck yes), and finished off the family party with a big ol’ slice on mint chocolate chip ice cream cake covered in hot fudge.
